I am carless in a city with crappy public transportation

Last night was a horrible night. I was driving to work, 10 PM, and had just pulled up behind a truck at the red light on the corner of Tramway and Rainbow at the entrance to the Sandia Casino and Resort, when the white 2001 Chevy 1 Ton in front of me just backed up and over my car. It seems they decided that the gas price, $2.55, was just to good to pass up and since the gas station was was on the opposite corner they decided to back up and then cut across the lanes to the left hand turning lane and didn't see me or my headlights over 10 feet behind them.
They totally messed up the front of my car and of course did absolutely no damage to their car at all. They called the police and reported it, they were sited and I slowly drove home. I called their insurance company and was assigned an adjuster but have to wait till Monday to talk to him. I so didn't need this. My poor car, here are the photos of what it looks like now. No even the cops were hot. All around not a good evening. I called into work and will probably do the same on Monday, hopefully by Tuesday the couple's insurance will have gotten me a rental car. I can't afford on one my own.

So that is the current state of things for me. I guess I am not going to be going very far this weekend. Good thing I really didn't have any plans. I am hoping that X will be able to come by and we can get in some good fucking, so I can get something good out of this weekend. Well that is not true, my brother and his family are in town this weekend. They are here for his sister-in-law's wedding. I get to see him and his four kids, so that is a good thing. I haven't seen them since my last trip to Utah in March. My nephew is about 8 months old now and that is a fun age. The older kids range from 5 to 2, one more boy and two girls.

  2. As long as you weren't hurt.

$2.55 a gallon - damn I paid over 60 cents more a gallon than that on Thursday.

    Have fun with your family.

  4. I'm sorry about your accident and glad that it wasn't any worse than it was.

    BUT...

as a new resident of Albuquerque I must take issue with your comment about the city's "crappy public transportation".

Having just moved here from Detroit, a city with truely crappy public transportation, I am greatly impressed with both the bus and rail systems here in New Mexico. They are second to none.

Please revise your opinion, which I'm sure was uttered in the heat of anger and which really doesn't reflect on your horrible experience.

  5. I can't get to and from work on the public transit because working graveyards the buses and rails don't run then. Plus where I live in town the buses only come twice a day as the commuter bus and then not at all. So yeah kinda crappy for my needs.

  6. My heart goes out to you! I know how you feel as I was involved in an "incident" this morning. Life sucks! This has been a crappy year for me and I can't wait till it's over.

  8. Sorry to hear about the car, but at least the couple wasn't one of those hit-and-run drivers. (I'm trying to see the good in all things - lol)

Although the car does look pretty banged up, but is it at all driveable? Hopefully you will be getting that loaner soon and have your car fixed in no time.
